The man charged in a vicious assault of a Prince Albert homeless women appeared in court Wednesday.
Twenty-nine-year-old Leslie Black made an appearance in Prince Albert provincial court charged with attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault.
The victim, a 47-year-old woman, was assaulted and seriously injured in Prince Albert on June 1 and is still recovering in an Edmonton hospital.
Black appeared in court dressed in jeans and a hoodie and is seeking counsel from Legal Aid.
Police say he was a casual acquaintance of the victim.
The victim’s family members were also in court and her aunt says it’s a lot to take in.
“I think a whole host of emotions right now, I am just going to let the police, the process, let the courts take the process and take it from there,” she says.
Black was arrested Saturday night and remains in custody.
