About 15 people walking to raise greater awareness of the serious issue of abuse against women arrived in Saskatoon Monday afternoon.
The Walk of Hope started in Prince Albert last Friday with stops in Duck Lake, Hague and Wanuskewin Heritage Park along the way.
Walker Holly Mirasty says unfortunately too many women suffer domestic abuse but it is important to know there is hope.
“I just wanted people to know that there’s hope out there for women that are in abusive relationships and that they don’t have to live that way and they’re worth something, they’re worth getting out of that relationship,” she says.
Mirasty adds the walkers had to deal with some unpredictable weather along the way and logging 40 plus kilometres per day did take a physical toll.
“Our muscles, our joints, everything – we’ve had to put A5-35 on our…blisters, bandages…”
The walk finished at city hall in Saskatoon.
Walk of Hope organizers say one in four women suffer some form of abuse.
