An agreement between the Saulteaux and Moosomin First Nations and Battlefords RCMP has resulted in a new police office being opened.
The office is located on the Saulteaux reserve in the north end of the village of Cochin and provides community policing services.
Staff Sgt. Howard Nodwell says the new facility replaces an office that was once located on the Moosomin reserve but was destroyed by fire.
“Because it’s not a full detachment, it doesn’t provide the same extensive services as a full detachment. But it still gives us an opportunity to be closer to those communities.”
There are currently three officers and a clerk working out of the office.
