A 37-year-old woman from the George Gordon First Nation has been arrested and charged with 17 offences in relation to a fatal crash that killed three people south of Punnichy in May.
According to the RCMP, all three victims were in a pickup truck that rear-ended a road grader travelling in the same direction the afternoon of May 17th.
Two passengers — a 37-year-old man from Sandy Bay and a 47-year-old man from the George Gordon First Nation — were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 30-year-old woman from the Gordon reserve succumbed to her injuries while being transported to hospital.
The three other occupants of the truck, all from the Gordon reserve, were hospitalized with a variety of injuries.
Among other charges, Stephanie Lorrin McNab is facing three counts of impaired driving causing death, three counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of refusing to provide a breath sample demand knowing that her operation of the motor vehicle caused an accident that resulted in the death of another person.
McNab was released from custody on a number of conditions following a court appearance today in Punnichy. Her next court appearance is set for December 2nd.
