Congratulations are in order for the Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) school chapter in Pelican Narrows.
Opawikoscikan School has been named the winner of a CAA award and a $500 contribution for its ongoing work against drinking and driving.
The contest focused on Red Ribbon Week, which was held the week of November 16th.
The SADD Opawikoscikan School chapter staged a public event on a frigid cold Saturday evening last month. About a dozen students aged 12 to 19 stopped 25 vehicles to talk with motorists about the dangers of drinking and driving and handed out SADD Red Ribbons.
There are 10 SADD chapters in the province.
This was the very first event for SADD in Pelican Narrows.
Students and community members hope to do more events like this to promote the SADD message.
