Cameco has extended the deadline to apply for its 2015 summer student positions.
Students will now have until this Friday to get their applications in to find summer work at some of Cameco’s northern operations, as well as a few positions in Saskatoon.
Brittney Lynn Holland, a pharmacy student from Creighton, has worked as a summer student with the company for the past three summers. She says she has learned several vital work skills through her positions as an environmental technician, a position in radiation and as a mill labourer during her summers with Cameco.
“You learn communication, time management, and several other necessary skills,” said Holland. “It’s also great for northern students because a lot of them will want to work in the north after they finish school. It is a great way to get your foot in the door if you want to work for Cameco in the future.”
Holland says she plans to return to the north after she finishes her pharmacy degree. She also says she plans to return to Cameco for another summer job in 2015.
Holland is the president of the Northern Administration Students’ Association (NASA) at the University of Saskatchewan; a group on campus that supports students from the north.
