A judge has ordered the Metis Nation Saskatchewan to hold a Provincial Metis Council meeting in the next few weeks, which will include setting a date for a Metis Nation Legislative Assembly.
Judge Brian Scherman says the PMC meeting must be held by January 23rd.
The federal government halted funding to the group in November because of its failure to hold an assembly, as required under its funding agreement.
The judge said the group is obligated to hold two legislative assemblies and one general assembly each year.
The last PMC meeting was in February 2013.
Scheman also described how the group has been divided into two camps, one supporting president Robert Doucette and the other backing vice-president Gerald Morin.
Doucette says he plans to hold the next PMC meeting January 16th and 17th in Saskatoon.
