The Regina man accused of beating a toddler to death in June of 2012 repeatedly told police he did not do it.
The video recorded interrogation of 34-year-old Adam Cyr was played for the jury today during his second-degree murder trial.
During the interrogation, Cyr was shown photos of the dead child.
He was repulsed and said, “There is no way I did that. What kind of a monster would do that?”
He was also asked about some injuries to his body, including scratches to his shoulder, wrist and arm. He said it could have been caused by the cat.
The two-and-a-half-year old girl was found dead by her mother on the morning of June 21, 2012.
Cyr, her live-in boyfriend, was brought in for questioning later that day.
The child died from severe injuries, including a punctured lung caused by multiple broken ribs.
The trial is expected to last two weeks. It began Monday in Regina Court of Queen’s Bench.
