Convicted child molester Paul Leroux is out of jail on full parole after spending just one year in prison.

The former employee at the Beauval Indian Residential School was found guilty on various charges of indecent assault and gross indecency and sentenced to three years in jail in December 2013.

The 74-year-old Leroux was a boys’ dormitory supervisor at the northern Saskatchewan residential school in the early 1960’s.

According to the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, Leroux was granted full parole on Dec. 30.

One of his victims, who cannot be named because of a publication ban, says he is very disappointed Leroux has been released.

He says the sexual assaults Leroux committed against a number of young boys who attended the school have had severe and long lasting damaging effects and his early release is a miscarriage of justice.

“So many people that I can mention that have passed on at an early age, all with alcohol related situations, because they couldn’t deal with it,” he says.

The Crown is currently pursuing an appeal of Leroux’s sentence.

Leroux is also appealing his charges.
