The second degree murder trial of 34 year old Adam Cyr has been adjourned until Wednesday morning when a witness will be recalled.
Matthew Bennett will be back on the stand for more cross examination.
Last week he testified that the door on the north central Regina home where a toddler’s body was found was wide open at three in the morning on June 21st, 2012.
He says he alerted Adam Cyr, then left.
Later that morning two year old Natalia Shingoose was found dead lying on the floor beside her crib.
She died of internal bleeding caused by multiple broken ribs that lacerated a lung and her liver.
Today both the grandmother and the biological father of the child testified.
They told the trial there were no signs of any injuries to the girl in the days before her death.
They described her as rambunctious and full of energy.
Adam Cyr lived with the girl’s mother and was baby sitting the child on the evening before she died.
In a video taped interrogation with police he repeatedly denies he had anything to do with the child’ death.
The adjournment in testimony will likely result in the trial continuing into next week.
It began January 5th.
If convicted of second degree murder Cyr will face an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for at least ten years.
