RCMP say a restaurant delivery driver and two Mounties were threatened with the same prohibited energy weapon in two separate incidents on a La Ronge-area reserve over the weekend.
The delivery driver was robbed of some cash in the first incident Saturday night. A male youth was later arrested and faces several charges — but the weapon wasn’t found.
Hours later, two Mounties on patrol apprehended another male youth in possession of an Omega stun gun. It is 18″ long and emits 150,000 volts.
RCMP spokesman Sergeant Craig Cleary says that male was also taken into custody, but not before he threatened the Mounties with the device.
“However, through conversation and negotiation with the youth, he did drop the weapon and the male youth was apprehended and brought into custody — along with the weapon being seized.”
The second youth pleaded guilty to unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and uttering threats and has been sentenced to nine months’ probation.
The first youth is due back in court in April to enter a plea.
Both youths have since been released from custody.
The incidents took place on Mikisiw Drive.
