Aboriginal student enrolment is up at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
The institution’s latest census numbers show Indigenous enrolment is up by seven per cent to almost 3,300 students.
Enrolment in language instruction for newcomers to Canada also increased by 277 students to 1,625.
Overall student enrolment is up by about 5 per cent for an increase of 15 per cent over the last five years.
Aboriginal students account for roughly 18.5 per cent of enrolment at Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s four campuses in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert.
Student enrolment is up in a number of programs including the collaborative bachelor of science in nursing, culinary arts, electrician and plumbing.
About 26,000 students attend Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
