A new affordable housing-unit officially opened Monday morning in Prince Albert.
The new two-storey four-plex located on 15th Street West cost $657,000 to build.
The provincial government kicked in $340,000 of the price tag with the Prince Albert Community Housing Society picking up the remainder.
Linda Boyer, manager for PA Community Housing, says the new homes are for young families.
“We look at our waiting list and we have over 300 applicants waiting and the majority of those waiting are young families with one child,” she says. “This gives them a chance to have a safe and affordable home to live in and be proud of.”
Boyer also says the new project is intended to be the first of several more units to be built in the city.
