The lawyer for a Regina man accused of killing a toddler put Adam Cyr’s former girlfriend through another day of tough questioning on Monday.
Bob Hrycan says Amanda Trevors has changed her story a number of times to cast suspicion on Cyr.
The 34-year-old Cyr is on trial for second-degree murder in the June 21, 2012 beating death of two-year-old Natalia Shingoose.
The child died of internal bleeding caused by six broken ribs.
Hrycan told the trial on the night before the girl was found dead Cyr told Trevors the child had fallen that day.
The lawyer also suggested his client was not acting suspicious or showing any concern that a close inspection of the child would reveal serious injuries or death.
Trevors told police she checked on Natalia at about 9 p.m. that night to make sure the child was okay but during the trial she testified she only glanced Natalia to make sure she was in bed.
On Monday, Trevors testified she now believes her daughter was already dead that night and wishes she would have done a closer inspection.
Hrycan suggested Trevors is trying to frame Cyr for something that was done by her close friend Matthew Bennett.
He showed up at the family home at 3 a.m. in the morning on the night in question to alert them the front door of the house was wide open.
Trevors vehemently denies this and testified Cyr was acting a little unusual on the evening her daughter is believed to have died.
She is the last witness for the prosecution.
It is not known if Hrycan will call any witnesses.
This is the third week of the jury trial.
