The RCMP says the sensitive information they released about Monica Burns was released in consultation and with the consent of her immediate family.
The 28-year-old Burns was found murdered northwest of Prince Albert this past weekend.
In a media release on Monday, the RCMP referred to Burns as a “sex trader worker.”
MBC, along with other media outlets, received comments from people who felt releasing that information was insensitive to the family.
“All information was released with consultation and consent with (Monica’s) immediate family,” said RCMP spokesperson Mandy Maier. “What we do know is there are a lot of unanswered questions and investigators are trying to get answers to those questions. Part of that investigation is soliciting information for answers from the public to help further the investigation.”
Maier said they released as many details as they could to help them find more information around Monica’s death.
“We need to determine the timeline, the time of events or activities she may of participated in prior to her death,” said Maier. “We are looking for anything that will assist us in the investigation and will help solve this file.”
Police may know more answers soon, as an autopsy was performed on Tuesday.
