Officials with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region say a small number of patients had their personal health information accessed by an employee who was not involved in their care.
The region began an investigation last month and found that the breaches took place last year between January 10 and December 9.
The health information of 16 patients, including prescription and lab information, was viewed by an employee who could not be confirmed as a care provider for the patients.
The health region has informed the affected patients about the situation.
Officials say disciplinary action has been taken against the employee.
The Office of the Saskatchewan Information and Privacy Commissioner has also been informed of the breach and has received a copy of the investigation report.
