The province is offering its first-ever free ice fishing weekend starting tomorrow.
Saturday through Monday, people of all ages are invited to head out onto the lakes, and they can fish without buying a license.
Environment Ministry Fish and Wildlife spokesperson Murray Koob says it’s the first time a free fishing weekend has been held in the winter.
“And it’s available to anyone in the province of Saskatchewan, including visitors at the time. So anyone in the province can fish at that time on any of the provincial waters. It excludes the national park. Anyone fishing on Lac La Ronge, though, will require a free Lac La Ronge endorsement.”
Koob says regulations on daily possession limits and reduced limits on some lakes and rivers remain in effect.
