Red cardboard silhouettes of men and women have been placed around Regina symbolizing missing and murdered Aboriginal women. The cut-outs are aimed at publicizing a vigil that will be held in a west-central Regina park beginning at noon tomorrow.
Event organizer Brenda Dubois is encouraging as many people to come out as possible, even though a winter storm is expected to hit tomorrow.
“Some of our girls went missing in the most blustery of weather. I think we can tolerate at least one hour. So at least we can know how they felt as they slowly progressed to death.”
Dubois says the event is open to everyone. The outdoor vigil will be followed by another gathering indoors at an undisclosed location.
The vigil will be held near the Territorial Building on Dewdney Avenue near Montague street.
It’s part of tomorrow’s national day of action regarding missing and murdered Indigenous women.
