Officials with Weyerhaeuser say they’re pleased with the provincial government’s planned purchase of four new water bombers.
Information officer Wayne Roznowsky says years like 2002 are still fresh in the minds of company directors, who don’t want to see valuable lumber go up in smoke.
Roznowsky says, in 2002, over forty thousand hectares of forest was lost to fire — a staggering amount that company officials don’t want to see again.
He adds forestry companies are not the only ones who will benefit from the revamped firefighting fleet — it will also help cottage owners.
