An investigation continues into a weekend traffic accident in northern Saskatchewan that took the lives of two people.

The two-vehicle collision on Highway 914 south of Pinehouse happened around 7 am Saturday.

RCMP say the driver and passenger in one of the vehicles, a male and female, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene and released.

An RCMP collision analyst was brought in to assist with the investigation.

Police say road conditions in the area at the time of the collision were reported as icy with good visibility.

RCMP have not released the names of the victims.
