Charges are pending after a truck carrying 17 people was stopped Tuesday afternoon north of Prince Albert.

RCMP say a southbound newer model pickup was clocked doing 136-kilometers per hour on Highway 2, about seven kilometers from the city.

When the vehicle was pulled over the investigating Mountie saw three children in the truck box.

There were also another 14 people in the front and extended cab seat of the truck.

They included three adults, one youth and ten children, along with the three children in the box.

Police say a second officer was brought in to assist, and three taxis and a tow truck were also called to the scene.

The people in the vehicle were driven to their destination and the truck was impounded for 30 days.

The investigation continues.

Officials with SGI say the traffic safety spotlight for the month is seat belt use.
