Points Athabasca Contracting has been awarded the contract for the turn-key design, supply and installation of two solar power generation systems in Saskatchewan’s Far North.

The contract was awarded by the First Nations Power Authority and the work will be done in partnership with a company called Solar Logix.

The projects will be situated at Father Megret Elementary School on the Hatchet Lake Denesuline First Nation and Father Gamache Memorial School on the Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation.

The two projects are designed to offset power consumption for each of the schools.

Last year, federal funding was secured to install two roof-mounted 64-kilowatt solar photovoltaic power systems.

The total cost of the project is just $580,080 and installation is scheduled to be completed this year.
