A Muskoday First Nation man charged with impaired driving causing the death of an 11-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty.

Fifty-one-year-old Gordon Morris Crain is facing six charges relating to the incident in July.

The victim had been riding his bicycle on Highway 3 near the Muskoday Bridge when he was struck and later died in hospital.

Crain’s legal counsel entered the not guilty plea to all charges against him Monday afternoon in a Prince Albert courtroom.

Crain’s counsel also announced his intention to seek a trial by judge alone.

A two-day preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place beginning on August 24 in Prince Albert.
