An Assembly of First Nations panel on specific land claims will be in Vancouver tomorrow to hold the second of two public hearings.
The panel is preparing a report and recommendations as part of a five-year review of the Specific Claims Tribunal Act.
Panel Chair Delia Opekokew says there have been complaints over the years about how specific land claims are handled.
“Many First Nations view the current approach on specific claims to be unfair, adversarial, costly, time-consuming, unresponsive and unjust. And we want to see and hear why precisely they feel that way.”
Opekokew says the panel’s report will be submitted to AFN National Chief Perry Bellegarde.
The public is invited to watch the hearings tomorrow beginning at 10am on YouTube.
