A unique, travelling exhibit featuring the work of a renowned Cree artist was officially launched today in North Battleford.
The exhibit is called “Through the Eyes of the Cree”, and includes paintings created by Allen Sapp.
Allen Sapp Galley director Dean Bauche says the award-winning exhibition combines art, artifacts, still photography and film.
Bauche says it examines Sapp’s art from the perspective of its significance to his people — the Northern Plains Cree.
Sapp is originally from the Red Pheasant First Nation.
The exhibit will be shown in various locations throughout the Prairie provinces over the next 22 months.
A portion of it will also be displayed at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa next year.
