Posters featuring northern youth and their role models will begin to pop up around northern Saskatchewan.

The Northern Healthy Communities Partnership is producing the series to highlight the work of youth leaders to encourage other youth to follow in their footsteps.

“The idea is to showcase examples on both sides of the coin,” said spokesperson Amanda Frain. “The youth leaders who we have will be features as well as showcase the adult mentors we have who have taught these youth leaders to become more resilient.”

The youth featured in the posters, mailed to locations throughout northern Saskatchewan are:

• Claude Bridges

• Summer Michel

• ShayLynn McAuley

• Simon Crookedneck

Frain says the purpose of the posters is for positive youth development.

“That is the intentional efforts of youth, adults and organizations to help provide opportunities for young people to grow their skills and abilities,” said Frain. “So essentially it is the things peoples and agencies do on purpose to help young people grow.”

The Northern Healthy Communities Partnership is a group of organizations working together to enhance the health and well-being of people in northern Saskatchewan.
