A northern Saskatchewan MLA has established an office on a First Nation in the province’s far north — and he hopes to open more in the region.
The Black Lake First Nation band office is the site of Athabasca New Democrat Buckley Belanger’s new constituency office in the community.
A staffer is there each weekday from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Black Lake is 900 km north of Prince Albert.
It is believed to be the furthest north that a Saskatchewan MLA has ever had a community office.
Belanger says he is having talks with Fond du Lac leadership about potentially opening one up there.
