Protest at METSI Office Ends as HRDC Steps In

The protesters at the Metis Employment and Training of Saskatchewan headquarters in Saskatoon have ended their sit-in.

The 15 demonstrators agreed to stop their protest earlier today after reportedly getting most of what they wanted from Human Resources Development Canada.

HRDC has apparently agreed to put the office into trusteeship.

METSI gets most of its funding from HRDC.

The sit-in began earlier this week over complaints from staff that they were being harassed and intimidated by members of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan executive and the local area director.

The protesters vowed to continue their demonstration until the federal government stepped in.
