First Nations actors will be lined up in Saskatoon tomorrow auditioning for a role in the HBO mini-series, “Lewis and Clark”.
Tyrone Tootoosis is no stranger to auditions. He went to his first back in 1970.
He says at one audition he got called back three times.
“And that’s when I asked for advice. I said, ‘OK, what’s going on here?’ and I was told, ‘Well, do you know your lines?.
I said, ‘No, no I don’t’. I was stumbling through them.
They said, ‘Well, are you serious about this?’.
I said, ‘I could be’.
And they said, ‘Well, study your lines — get with it’. They put it quite bluntly.”
On his fourth call back, Tootoosis got the part of Chief Poundmaker in the movie “Big Bear”.
The auditions begin at 9 am Saturday at the Saskatoon Inn.
