The Flying Dust First Nation and Habitat for Humanity will team up to build an independent living home in the community for elders.

The ground breaking is taking place today and work on the project will begin immediately.

Chief Richard Gladue says Flying Dust has to contribute 5,000 hours of volunteer service to the $1.4-million project.

“We just started, so right now, basically, we’re having volunteers coming from down east. We have about 30 students coming from New Brunswick or Nova Scotia, and then we have some coming from Toronto and we’ve had inquiries from the States.”

The home will have four two-bedroom units and six single-bedroom ones.
