The Public Complaints Commission has cleared Regina police of any wrongdoing in the case of a 25-year-old woman who claimed police picked her up, drove her out of town in the middle of winter, took her coat and boots, and then drove her to the police station where she was held in cells until she sobered up.
Video surveillance shows Brooke Watson was pushed out of a truck by unknown people without her jacket or boots. That video came from outside the apartment where police picked her up during the early morning hours of January 4.
Watson also claimed the officers were verbally abusive. The PCC conducted interviews, reviewed video evidence and GPS data from the police cruiser and determined police did nothing wrong.
The case is now closed. The complaints commission is an independent body that investigates public complaints against municipal police in the province.
