Crown Presses Buesnel About Killing

A murder trial involving a 49-year-old resident of Prince Albert is expected to wrap up soon.

John Buesnel took the stand again yesterday as the Crown repeated its questioning of his actions the morning of August 23rd, 2003.

It was then that Buesnel admitted to striking 44-year-old Vincent Ballantyne over the head twice with a baseball bat.

Buesnel has already gone on record as saying he was intoxicated at the time, and felt his life was being threatened by the former resident of Pelican Narrows — whom Buesnel described as being “an evil spirit”.

The Crown, meanwhile, asked Buesnel repeatedly why he felt he had no other choice but to hit Ballantyne after Ballantyne had laid down for a sleep.

During yesterday’s cross-examination, Buesnel grew visibly angry at certain points and asked the court why he wasn’t offered more legal help for his defense.

The trial is expected to wrap up in the next few days.
