More than 6 thousand claims are in progress, while another 400 seem to have got lost.
The independent assessment process is encouraging claimants who have not heard anything about the progress of their claim over the last several months to contact them.
The entire process is set to wind down next spring.

An information line has been set up and appeals are being made to Aboriginal communities for help in tracking down the remaining claimants.
The information line number is 1-877-635-2648.
