Plans for next Tuesday’s Truth and Reconciliation commemoration event in Saskatoon were announced today.
Organizers plan to live stream the national TRC event from Ottawa, provide entertainment and have speakers share their residential school experience.
Saskatoon Tribal Chief Felix says the Truth and Reconciliation Commission heard lots of stories from across Canada.
“150,000 stories, and 30,000 of them in Saskatchewan,” he says. “And the ones that are surviving have been able to tell their stories. We had 20,000 people attend our event here in 2012.”
The Saskatoon event will take place along the South Saskatchewan River in Victoria Park.
Organizers are planning for a crowd of about 2,000 people.
