The forum is scheduled for Wednesday and will coincide with the community’s week long Elder’s Gathering.

Pinehouse’s Corporate Engagement Officer, Vince Natomagan, says they decided to hold the forum during elder days to reach a broader audience.

“These participants can now go back home and realize there are success stories among some of the poverty in northern Saskatchewan,” said Natomagan. “We should celebrate these success stories.”

Natomagan says several different development corporations and communities from northern Saskatchewan will be speaking during the forum.

Among them are Chief Tammy Cook Searson of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, Des Nehde Developments, Sakitawak Development Corporation and several others.

Natomagan says the wide range of northern speakers proves people in the north are stepping up to development economic growth.

“Sometimes we have to take stock that we have qualified people in our community, we just have to give them the light of day and be patient,”

said Natomagan. “Sooner or later we will have our own economic drivers in our communities.”

The forum is scheduled to begin at 9:30 Wednesday morning at the Pinehouse Town Hall.

The 5th annual Elder’s Gathering in the community began on Monday and will continue until Friday.
