Family of a missing Prince Albert-area woman are not giving up hope that 22-year-old Danielle Nyland will be found alive.
The Metis woman has now been missing for 10 days.
Her uncle, Lynn Regnier, says the family is coping.
“We are doing the best that we can,” he says. “We are just hoping for the best, that is all that we can do.”
Regnier says the family has also been searching in the area where Nyland was last seen on June 8.
That was near Holbein, a small community about 30 km west of Prince Albert. The area has forest, lots of muskeg and sloughs.
Regnier says a farmer saw her in the area at about 7:30 in the morning on June 8. Her cell phone was also found at the end of a driveway near Holbein, but there has been no sign of her.
The previous night, she was at a party in Prince Albert. Her uncle says her purse was found in the vehicle that she was in when she went to the party.
He says it is not like her to just disappear.
“She has never done this for a week at a time,” he says. “She has went on a Friday-to-Sunday thing, you know, but she is always in touch with her family.”
RCMP were looking for Raymond Knife, a Prince Albert man who may have had contact with her before she went missing. He was located last night and has been interviewed by police.
Regnier describes him as an acquaintance of his niece, but says he did not know him.
RCMP are also looking for a white pickup truck that Nyland might have been in on the night she went missing.
Aside from that, RCMP will say only that their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RCMP at (306) 747-2606 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
