Wildfire Management officials say some large fires in the La Ronge area have kicked up again — but do not pose a smoke or fire threat to communities.
Wildfire Management executive director Steve Roberts says the Egg and Sucker Fires are among four fires in the region that saw some renewed activity over the weekend because of weather conditions.
“Specifically the ones near La Ronge are all considered active,” said Roberts. “Crews engaged in the fires hoping to secure the lines a little more and I know we are expecting some hotter weather for the weekend, so the guys are working really hard to ensure those lines aren’t going to move.”
Residents in the La Ronge area noticed forest fire smoke and ash over the weekend.
The regions saw hundreds evacuated and some cabins burned because of the same fires earlier this month.
There are 26 active fires in the province right now — five aren’t yet contained.
