An update on the evacuation for La Ronge, Air Ronge and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

There is fire activity at the north end, about 3 kms north of the Airport.

Crews from the Prince Albert and Buckland Fire Departments are now in La Ronge to assist.

Mayor Thomas Sierzycki says there is now a mandatory evacuation order for La Ronge.

Only essential services personnel are being allowed to stay.

RCMP are informing residents of the mandatory evacuation and patrolling for security purposes.

Hospital services are being moved and patients are being transferred.

Emergency Services are going to based out of the Ambulance base in Air Ronge.

People who can drive south are encourage to do that.

The primary evacuation route is Highway 2 south.

Highways crews are monitoring junctions and will advise travelers of changes, road closures and alternate routes.

People needing transportation should register at the JRMCC hall and arena on Far Reserve.

Buses will be provided.

People are advised to bring only one bag and necessary medication, and no pets.

Prince Albert City Police say evacuees from La Ronge are asked to report to the Margo Fornier Centre located at 1211 1st Avenue West (across from the food court at the Gateway Mall).

Any needs they have will be taken care of there.

SIAST and the Carleton School in PA are full and no longer accepting evacuees.
