The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) for Lac La Ronge Indian Band, Air Ronge and Town La Ronge continues to get requests from evacuated people who want to return to the communities to fight fires. By order, access to the communities, and to Highway 102 North, is restricted to emergency personnel.
The situation is dangerous, and wildfire situations can change dramatically in a very short time. The area is evacuated for a reason: so that any remaining personnel can move unimpeded, without confusion or roadway crowding.
We are thankful for the offers from people who hope to contribute as emergency personnel, and the EOC will accept offers through larongecommandcentre@gmail.com. Each department head will consider the resources available. These are difficult decisions, but they must be made.
Shipments of resources will be prearranged when needed, but this does not grant the drivers access to the communities.
