No structures or homes in the La Ronge tri-community area have been destroyed or damaged by wildfires as of this report.

Fire crews are continuing to hold the line on both the north west flank behind the La Ronge industrial park and Bigstone area, and the east flank Eagle Point subdivision of the Egg fire.

Sprinklers and fire suppression systems have been installed along Bigstone Road and Fleet Street.

Peninsula east of the airport remains a big priority and presents a threat to the town of La Ronge if wind conditions are not favorable.

Local officials are grateful nothing has moved closer to any homes on this east flank.

Flank to the west behind industrial park is stable.

The fire grew to the west but did not get closer to the community.

In response to the question of when evacuees can return home: The mandatory evacuation order for the La Ronge area remains in effect and no return date for residents is forecast (officials don’t have a crystal ball).

The fire situation is evaluated daily and a decision to return evacuees won’t be made until the community is deemed safe by local authorities.

The Emergency Operation Centre’s Public Information Officer Scott Boyes says the fire is still mobile and the threat to the tri-community area is still very real.

There is a lot of manpower on the ground at Wadin Bay, working on keeping the community wet.

Planned power outage is scheduled for today (conditions permitting) north of La Ronge to replace a badly damaged power pole.

Highway update:

Highway 165 west is open.

Highway 905 has been re-opened.

Highway 165 east remains closed.

Pets:

As of yesterday, 150 pets have been moved to safe-points south of La Ronge.

When the wildfire situation is stable, the SPCA will be posting photos of the pets to assist owners in retrieving their animals.
