Cameco says production at its McArthur River, Key Lake, Cigar Lake and Rabbit Lake uranium operations have not been interrupted by forest fires in northern Saskatchewan.
The company has implemented additional measures to protect the health and safety of people at its facilities and is assisting northern communities in fighting the fires and supporting evacuees.
None of Cameco’s operations are directly threatened by fires but the company has voluntarily suspended shipments of packaged uranium from its milling facilities.
Officials say about half of the workforce at Cameco’s Saskatchewan operations are from the north and evacuations of workers and their families are creating additional challenges.
