A decorated soldier who led firefighting efforts in Saskatchewan earlier this month now stands accused of sexually abusing young cadets dating back some 17 years.
In a news release issued today, the Department of National Defence says 40-year-old Lt.-Col. Mason Stalker is facing 10 charges, including sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
The military investigation alleges the offenses occurred between 1998 and 2007 in Edmonton while Stalker was a mentor with a local army cadet corps.
He is currently the commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have additional information to come forward.
