The First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) is expanding its reach into Yorkton.
On Thursday the presidents of the FNUniv and Parkland College signed a partnership for a four-year bachelor of Indigenous Education program at the Yorkton campus.
The arrangement is similar to a partnership the FNUniv has with Parkland College’s Fort Qu’Appelle Campus.
The degree program will produce teachers who can promote First Nations control of First Nations education.
FNUniv president Mark Dockstator says the new program allows students to get their degree without having to be uprooted from their home communities.
The signing ceremony took place in Yorkton on Thursday.
