Elections Canada is trying something a little different this time around to help people who will not be in their home ridings on election day.

In Saskatchewan, four special polling stations are open until Thursday evening.

There are two of them at the University of Regina, one at the University of Saskatchewan and one at the friendship centre at Ile a la Crosse.

All that is needed to vote is a piece of voter ID and proof of address.

While these special polls are aimed mainly at university students, anyone can use them.

Previously, students had to mail in ballots.

This is a pilot project for Elections Canada.
