An advance poll is on today in the election for chief and council of the Fond du Lac First Nation.
Another advance poll for band members will be held Thursday at the Prince Albert Inn.
Five candidates have stepped forward and are running for the position of chief.
They are Rita Adam, Rudy Adam, incumbent Earl Lidguerre, Louie J. Mercredi and Mark Pacquette.
A total of 24 people are running for positions on council.
The list of candidates for council includes former chief Napoleon Mercredi.
He is currently going through a court battle facing charges of breach of trust, fraud over $5,000 and theft.
The band’s general election is scheduled for October 13.
