Buckley Belanger will once again be the NDP candidate in Athabasca in the next provincial election.
Belanger was first elected to the legislative assembly as a Liberal in 1995, and has been re-elected four times.
Under the previous NDP government, he served as the province’s minister for Northern Affairs, Environment and Highways among other cabinet roles.
Before serving as an MLA he worked in the media, including a stint with MBC.
He was also a three-term mayor of Ile a la Crosse.
The Saskatchewan Party plans to nominate its candidate in the riding next month.
Nomination meetings are scheduled for Nov. 2 in Pinehouse and Nov. 3 in La Loche.
