An inmate who escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert on October 5 is back in custody.
Officials with Corrections Canada say Hector Thomas Bird was picked up Sunday evening by RCMP in Montreal Lake.
Bird went missing during a head count in the prison’s minimum security unit.
The 23-year-old is serving a three-year sentence for sexual assault, sexual interference and failing to comply with a probation order.
Corrections officials are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his escape.
