The results from the judicial recount in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River are in — and they show that the NDP’s Georigina Jolibois is still the MP in northern Saskatchewan.
The initial vote count gave Jolibois a 70-vote victory over the Liberals’ Lawrence Joseph.
But she says the recount increased that spread to 82 votes.
Jolibois says it’s “awesome” and now she can get on with doing the work that needs to be done for the constituency.
The Liberals say they’re not sure if they will be commenting on the recount results.
When asked if she knew if the Liberals were contemplating any other appeals, Jolibois said her team was only aware of the recount application.
Jolibois says she will be heading to Ottawa first thing Wednesday morning for an orientation and caucus meeting.
She also says it is still to be determined how many constituency offices she will have set up across northern Saskatchewan and where they will be situated.
