A 55-year-old man from Standing Buffalo First Nation has been charged with first degree murder after a death on the reserve.

Around 3:00 pm on Friday, Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP were called to a home about a complaint involving a firearm.

Police say the body of Mario Kaiswatum, 28, was found inside the residence.

Investigators latter arrested Maurice Maple.

Both men are residents of the First Nation.

Maple was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries received before police arrived.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court on Monday, January 4.

An autopsy on the victim has been scheduled for Monday at Saskatoon City Hospital.
