The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations is asking all schools in the province and across the country to take a moment of silence this Friday in memory of victims of a recent shooting in La Loche.
As part of the memorial, the FSIN is asking schools to lower their flags to half-mast beginning at 9 a.m.
FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron says a number of First Nations schools have already committed to the moment of silence.
Last week, a lone gunman killed four people at two separate locations in the small northern community — including the high school building of La Loche Community School.
A number of people were also seriously injured in the shooting.
A 17-year-old male is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder in relation to the shooting.
